Very bizarre watching this spectacular (it really is)  fireworks  display and celebration, with a huge building on fire in the background.

It's like having fireworks and cheers with the Twin Towers falling..

I don't think it has to get to the melting point, it just needs to get hot enough that it begins to lose enough of it's tensile properties.

No different from breaking your neck paralyzes your legs. Or what happens when you cut a phone line. Or what happens when power lines go down
