I like that the trade and relief markets have been jump started almost immediately this year. I'd love to see a healthy Soria handle the 6th or 7th.

Soria was untouchable in April/May for the Tigers with a 1.25 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 17/4 Ks/BBs, and 15 saves in 16 chances. 

Then June happened (5 HRs allowed).

But after that, he pitched really well aside from one July appearance (4 earned runs).

If Soria comes here it is for the 8th inning and Smith moves to the 7th inning guy.

 

I would almost sign Soria trade for Storen and then move Smith. Maybe, as part of a Storen deal.

I'd love to get Soria. Him and Sipp are my favorite targets for the pen. Even if they don't get him, this is great news. It means they're looking to build up the bullpen.

Soria made 7mil last year and will be looking for a closer position and the pay raise that will go along with it. This is not a fit. Nothing to see here, move along.

I remember him expressing regret he wasn't able to contribute. And considering he missed the entire next season after we had him, it sure seems the injury was pretty severe.

I do hope we add someone for 7th/8th inning and leave Gott at 6th.  Benoit might be good for 7th.  I'd take Soria but what's the cost.

Didn't he grow up an Angels fan? I highly doubt he intended to screw over his hometown team.

 

He was excellent last year, already has some WS rings, so I'd think playing for the team he grew up rooting for would be appealing. 

Given that he made a mint on us once already and we're his hometown team, the asking price may not be as high. And we're not signing him to be a closer, maybe not even the set-up guy. He'd be 7th-inning or an insurance option for Street/Smith, and maybe cheaper than Soria.

I really like the Storen for Smith idea. A good fit well for the Nationals as well.
