Democrats aim to suspend debt limit with bill to avoid government shutdown

This sounds like a really really bad idea.  We won't spend less, so we need our credit line increased.  But in the meantime, even though we are maxed at our credit limit, let's make it so that there is no credit limit.

I do not understand why many in this country are ok with their taxes constantly being increased

Quote

In the run-up to the 2020 election, the most highly contested in US history, Facebook’s most popular pages for Christian and Black American content were being run by Eastern European troll farms. These pages were part of a larger network that collectively reached nearly half of all Americans, according to an internal company report, and achieved that reach not through user choice but primarily as a result of Facebook’s own platform design and engagement-hungry algorithm.

The report, written in October 2019 and obtained by MIT Technology Review from a former Facebook employee not involved in researching it, found that after the 2016 election, Facebook failed to prioritize fundamental changes to how its platform promotes and distributes information. The company instead pursued a whack-a-mole strategy that involved monitoring and quashing the activity of bad actors when they engaged in political discourse, and adding some guardrails that prevented “the worst of the worst.”

Facebook is utter garbage. If social media disappeared the world would be a better place.

University threatens students who use the wrong pronouns

A university in Pennsylvania told students that "action could be taken" against them if they do not respect their classmates’ preferred pronouns.

Point Park University’s Office of Equity and Inclusion notified incoming students of its "Misgendering, Pronoun Misuse, and Deadnaming Policy" in an email first obtained by Campus Reform

It stated that "any individual who has been informed of another person’s gender identity, pronouns, or chosen name is expected to respect that individual."

It said "action could be taken" if a complaint is filed regarding the policy.

"While the University recognizes the aspect of intent versus impact, we must recognize that regardless of the intent, if an individual is impacted in a harmful way, action could be taken if a complaint is filed," the email states.

WTH?

What is wrong with people?

I never understood why Facebook makes recommendations for pages to follow that pop up on your feed. Just let people look stuff up for them self

Facebook wants you to follow as many pages as possible, even if those pages are Russian troll farms. More engagement means more ad revenue.

People in older generations seem to get sucked in by their Facebook feeds, and they start believing everything they read as long as it supposedly comes from a trustworthy source.

I know plenty of young people that fit this

I no longer have a Facebook account but there was a bourbon whiskey and Eastern Sierra fishing groups that were pretty good to be a part of. Unfortunately the rest of Facebook was trash
