Plan on going this weekend with my son. Should I go the the 3D? Or just regular screen?

I'm not sure that seeing it in 3D would make it any better. I would just make sure that I had a good seat. A large screen would probably be the thing that the film would benefit most from. I guess see it on an RPX screen or the like if you can.

This film rules.

I saw it in 3D.  While it was good.  I agree with Rally, the bigger the screen the better.  Probably a good sound system would also help.

I would recommend non-3D

I saw it in 3D and while I didn't hurt the movie, I was pretty annoyed that I was forced to see it in 3D. Went early Saturday morning before my wife had to go to work and the internet advertised a 2D screening at 9:30 (which I was specifically looking for), I show up and it's actually the 3D screening instead, so strapped for time, I had to do it.

The 3D isn't bad at all, but this isn't a movie I really want to be distracted with stuff jumping out at me. There's a ton of interesting action, visuals, and set design, going on in the screen for you to focus on without the 3D. I'm actually hoping to head a check it out again properly in regular format.

I really hope more and more people go see this. I think all the praise it has been getting is warranted. I could foresee some backlash as there always is with anything getting this much praise, but it would be nice to see this become a "new" franchise. The characters are all very rich and feel like they have a ton of history and backstory to them even without it explicit in the movie.

George Miller already has some sequels planned for this, just hope this movie does well enough to greenlight them plus give him free reign to do whatever the hell he wants with them.
