Exxon Mobil scraps plans for temporary fix to damaged Torrance refinery

Exxon Mobil Corp., still at loggerheads with air quality regulators over a short-term fix for the company's damaged Torrance refinery, appears poised to build a new pollution-control system that meets antipollution specifications, several experts briefed on the matter said.

Exxon was going to use a used pollution control device to get the refinery back up and running, but CARB/AQMD refused

I would like to know the exact figure for the new "cap and trade" gas tax which went into effect in California back in January.

They don't publish it anywhere, to my knowledge. There are estimates that it will eventually add $1.50 to the cost of a gallon. Other estimates are more in the range of 75 cents.

 

I'm guessing this is part of the reason we're paying a lot more here in California. That and the refinery explosion.

Oil is at the lowest price in six years, but gas here in California is most certainly not.

 

It should be at least a dollar lower than it is.

Actually it went back up to $1.80 so you are lower than here.

saw a place here in glendale tonight that was selling regular unleaded for 3.49 per. he's a good 60-80 cents above most everyone else in town. he's also higher than the usual doosh in glendale who charges 3.29.
