Common sense

The Red Sox finished in last place, so we don't have to talk about them in the playoffs. We might as well talk about every time the Marlins make the playoffs they win it all. If your WS wins happen years apart, there is zero relevance between the two, there is no carry over affect. Just like there is no carry over affect or correlation between the Angels in 2009 and the Angels in 2014.

Except for the Big Catorce who can't get it done

Before the 3 run Jack he had only given up one hit. He has thrown less than 100 pitches. The fact is Mattingly was scared to death to go to that awful pen thus he left Kershaw in for the seventh inning. The blame should go to Colletti for not having a decent pen to back up the strong starting pitching. Also, St. Louis has Kershaw's number.

Calhoun and Aybar bunted multiple times total is what I meant.

But I think you knew that, and you were just being obtuse

No, I was figuring you were using a common aw tactic...........hyperbole.

I have seen 6 out of the 8 playoff teams bunt including 3 of the winning teams.  I doubt Sosh even goes to the bunt if any of Trout, Pujols or Kendrick were at all useful in the games.  But unlike many posters here, that is only my opinion and it might be wrong.  What isn't wrong is that they were clearly struggling to score runs at the point he started having them bunt.

It is widely known that the Royals win in spite of Yost, not because of him (visit any Royals forum)

I would like to know how "widely knows" this. The Royals hadn't done jack since 1985, and now suddenly they are overcoming their manager who has been holding them back?

Every manager has deficiencies. I doubt they win in spite of Yost but I'm sure they could have a few more wins if he was perfect in every facet of managing. Same with Sosh. These warts drive fans nuts.

jmo, the dodgers worked him like a rented jackass, just like they do all thier star pitchers, from kofax to valenzuela to kershaw.

sad to watch em burn out great talent.

Different managers and owners throughout the years but it is amazing. They just run 'em into the ground.

Still waiting for someone to explain the Cardinals, Giants, and Red Sox if the playoffs are such a crapshoot.

Sometimes you get hot at the craps table. Just because it is a crapshoot doesn't mean every team will be near .500

What does the performance of David Freese and Shelly Duncan have to do with the performance of Kolten Wong and Matt Carpenter?  Granted, the Cardinals make some solid decisions (let's be realistic, though... if they had more money, they would have signed Pujols).... but their playoff performance in 2006 and 2011 has little to do with their playoff performance in 2014.
