Will Weaver Be a Moyer-Type in his late 30s?

Weaver is 31 now. This year Weaver has looked very hittable, especially today, but he pitched around trouble and picked up the defense when needed in a big game. His velocity is dropping but he still manages to be effective by keeping hitters off balance. I can see Weave pitching when he is 40 and having some good years a la 3.50 ERA, 1.10 WHIP mixed in during his mid-to-late 30s.

no matter what happens for the rest of his career. he's going to be in the angels hall of fame. i picture him signing another contract with the angels as he slides down the rotation and eventually a coaching/FO position. the dude's really becoming an angel legend.

No he really isn't Adam. Buerle is, but I don't think Weaver is there quite yet. Weaver still throws most of his fastballs above 85mph. Those other two don't or didn't.

I don't think he'll ever be a Jaime Moyer, I think the guy he is most likely to emulate is late 30s Mike Mussina.  He's basically a splitter away from having the same exact pitch profile as Mike had late in his career.   Weave used to throw a cutter earlier in his career, it wouldn't surprise me to see him bring it back or pick up the split just to add some deception to his FB and slider mix.  His curve seems to be his out pitch right now and while I don't really see a need for him to move away from that adding something to make his other pitches more effective wouldn't hurt.
