he was supposed to be the heir apparent as closer to chris perez with the indians. both fell off the map, but vinnie was the better reliever at their peaks.

Apparently, Cleveland wasn't big enough for Vinnie and LeBron... something had to give.

I had him on my fantasy team in both 2011 and 2012 (for holds) and remember him being pretty solid. Not a bad choice to maybe roll the dice with him, especially if we don't plan to have him play a vital role in the bullpen. Just a little weird in acquiring another RHP reliever.

Blanton had excellent SIERA numbers from 2010-2013. Doesn't mean anything when you allow hits and home runs galore.

Cleveland didn't move him until they knew Kevin Love was coming to town.

For cash considerations? clicked link. Clevinger. Saw him 5/13 and he did real well, was locating, getting groundballs, good size. Looks like he fell apart after that though, probably due to his injury.

 

Another SP prospect gone, but he was already up there in age and wasn't anything special. Definitely not on Morris' level.

Blanton's failure does little to dismiss the general notion behind Sierra or FIP etc etc.   That move didn't work, it doesn't mean you throw out the decision processes entirely.
