Every bit as bad pitching as what the Rangers used to have until the 2010s

Ideally the team would score lots of runs and give up few. But if we can't have that, I'd rather they score lots of runs and give up lots then score few and give up few. The end results might be the same, but the former is more entertaining. Runs are sexy.

Of course starting pitching is a concern. Everyone knew that heading into Spring Training. Why should we act surprised now that they Angels are performing almost exactly as predicted. Admittedly, Vargas and Weaver are doing worse than anticipated, but the rest of the staff is right about on par. This is not a surprise. And I have said the same thing before as AO here, this team looks like the Rangers of old, all bats, one, maybe two, pitchers, staring down the barrel of another long season.

I'm not quite there yet, but an argument could be made that Dipoto focused too much on what was already a strength of the team instead of the parts that were actually the biggest weaknesses.

I have no worries about Weaver. He always puts up bad Spring Training numbers. But it is concerning that the other SPs pitchers haven't had good outings.

Repeated? Yikes! Mike, I am not quite sure I want to see any of those pitches repeated. If there is a combined 7+ ERA I'd say those pitches should be changed and changed quickly. LOL

Actually I said the Angels are going to need 9 runs nightly to have a chance at winning, except when Weaver's pitching. The real problem for Weaver and Vargas is how the rest of the rotation will tax the bullpen, forcing them deeper into the game and artificially bloating their ERA's

We shall find out soon enough. I am not worried about Jared, the cliche "ST is where they are working on pitches" has proven to be true in Jared's case every year. He'll be his usual dominant self. I'm confident in CJ, his track record speaks on his behalf. After that, we shall see. Joe Blanton has been reliable and durable. Hopefully he will eat a lot of innings.
