Auto Insurance Question

Car broken into last night in a locked parking garage at my complex. No video cameras. Rummaged through the glove box and the center console but took nothing from what I can tell. Police came out and processed. They did find a blood droplet on the ground but not sure if it is related to the scene. It wasn't my blood. So who knows. I received a case #

 

My question is, since there was no real theft, should I report it to my insurance company? Replacing the glass should only cost $150 or so. I had it done about a year ago when someone shot a bee bee through it. Will my rates go up by filing a claim? Just curious if it is even worth it to report to insurance or not.

I wouldn't report it.  Pretty sure it would jack up the rates.

It's a comprehensive claim which shouldn't raise your rates.

Call and ask. You don't have to file a claim if it affects your rate or the deductible is more than replacing the glass.

Deductible is $500 so I will be paying out of pocket. Cancelled the claim. I moved 1500 miles from North OC but apparently I brought it with me.

unless you're dexter morgan and can manipulate the system because you're a blood splatter specialist who disposes of serial killers that the rest of the police dept. can never find and never asks questions about why they're no longer doing business in your town.
