Cards were actually lucky instant replay didn't factor into the Ellis slide at home.  Ellis was clearly safe at home because Yadi never tagged him.  Can't blame Mattingly for not arguing because he couldn't see it from his angle. Yadi of course played it off and the Ref didn't look for the tag.  If Ellis would've made a fuss, the refs may have at least discussed it.  Ellis fk'd up by not arguing.

Great game ... wondering if Mattingly screwed up by taking Gonzalez out of a tie game in the 8th inning? Handley was intentionally walked twice after the 8th inning. So you lost both Gonzalez and Handley's at bats (4).

When you run into the catcher and he doesn't drop the ball it's an out. Just like on a double play when the second basement doesn't actually touch the bag. The catcher doesn't neccessarily have to tag him with the glove

People keep saying that but I do believe we would have lost that pick for signing Wilson anyway, no? I would rather the Cards got that pick and not the Rangers.

Correct. Only would have kept their 2nd round pick and one of the sandwich picks if they didn't sign Pujols(and didn't sign anyone else who had a draft pick attached instead).
