Walks are at about 4 per 9 which is concerning.

Mlbtraderumors say he will command around 3 years 39 mil. I like that better than signing Garza.

His season last year really scares me.  This year he's basically right-handed CJ Wilson....

 

CJ:  3.44 ERA, 1.366 WHIP, 2.17 K/BB

Jimenez:  3.49 ERA, 1.371 WHIP, 2.17 K/BB

 

I'm not sure if my blood pressure can handle 2 nibblers in the same rotation.

That's true but CJ has been solid and he would be cheaper than what we paid for CJ. We can trade Trumbo to TB for Hellickson or Maybe Cobb

It is an interesting thought. His last handful of starts have been terrific and it seems like he may have recaptured some of his Rockies magic. It might be a low cost option that makes sense.

How is he interesting option?

He's been good for half a season out of the past 4 years. Over paying him for a stretch of 10 good games out of his last 92 would be an absolute horrible decision. The only reason his ERA looks good is because of his 1.83 mark he's put up in the second half. He's a gamble we can't afford to make, literally and figuratively.

That extreme torque in his wrist on the back of his delivery can't be good for too many more seasons.

Overall he's been a massive disappointment while in Cleveland. Now in a contract year he's turned it on in the last half of the season. Has the makings of a disaster signing unless he's dirt cheap which likely wont be the case.

We need to find someone who we know will provide quality innings. You can't go into next year with Richards and a guy like Jimenez as 4/5. 

 

Richards has given me a lot of hope but I still think the plan should be to find a good #3, resign Vargas and have Richards as your 5.
