how do you judge it on the results of any individual player?  What if said player would have been worse without butcher's help.  The point is, you don't really know how any player would have performed under a different pitching coach.  The only 'evidence' is the Rodney fluke.  If you except him to turn guys with a mid 4 era into guys with a sub 1 era then you are going to be dissapointed with anyone.

If Kazmir becomes a force, Butch needs to go. He personally brought him over here stating he could fix him. Seeing how Jordan Waldon does will be interesting as well.

 

Jordan Walden will become dominant. Tommy Hanson will be our team's #6 behind Garret Richards. Joe Blanton will be the team's #3. 

 

So Butcher should be canned if Kazmir and Walden do well this year?

How about this for a compromise: Butcher should be caned if the Hanson for Walden deal has net negative value for the Angels at the end of the day. He can save his job by Walden being terrible or Hanson being awesome.
