With Trumbo, the first pitch that the ump called a strike was horse shit.

That put Trumbo in a position where he had to swing at just about anything low and outside.

Yanks pitcher knew that, of course, so that's exactly where he pitched after getting the gift first pitch strike.

Yup, he was done after the first pitch call.

The 3rd pitch was so far outside and such an easy take. He got himself out at that point

The AB showed how poor his pitch recognition/plate approach is. The first pitch was definitely outside, but he then expanded....and kept expanding his zone, making it that much easier for the pitcher to keep going further and further away and just letting Trumbo get himself out

We've seen so many AB's like this from him. Hamilton as well. Every time I watch their AB's, I can't decide who gives away AB's more

It's a bit of both. Trumbo is prone to expanding his zone. When the pitcher gets gifted a strike way off the plate it becomes easy to take advantage of this.

The count was 0-1. Sure it doesn't help but to blame the umpire is ridiculous

Once the umpire establishes that that is a strike.  As a hitter you have to swing at pitches outside because as a  hitter you have to assume that's how the ump is calling it.

As a pitcher, once you see that called a strike, you will keep going back there.  Because even Trout or Ruth couldn't hit that pitch.

That at bat is all on the umpire.

^And how terrible is it that? Again and again, an umpire is affecting the outcome of the game with crappy calls.

This is pretty much how the Yankee organization has stayed succesful over the years. Little things they get away with which actually make a signifigant impact on the outcome of the game.

Go ahead and overlook that first pitch which was a ball but called a strike all you want, but it pretty much lays out the at-bat.

This crap happens ALL THE TIME. You playing against the Stankees? It's a constant effing uphil battle against the umps. Playing in Stankee stadium pretty much guarantees you no even keeled calls, we've all seen it over the years, time and again. Hell, after that ball 4 to Trout in the 9th I was basically waiting for him to get rung up for sh**s and gigs, because, let's be honest, would that really be a surprise?

Computer generated balls and strikes will pave the way to a Stankee dynasty downfall.
