Grading anyone or anything through one game is stupid as shit, though that's par for the course with you.  Phil isn't coming back so if you're going to be terminally asshurt about the managerial change all season the only thing you're going to accomplish is making an ass of yourself

Perfectly acceptable to grade an individual game/effort.  
 

Charting incremental progress, not making a statement on the entire season.

The thread was started prior to the end result.   The exercise is necessary to  establish a baseline and hopefully improve from there on a game by game basis.

I didn't watch so can't really comment except that I would give the SP an F along with the Pen.   
 

it's concerning that the pen didn't perform despite the halos loaded up this area in the off season

This is an awesome thread.  I love that this guy watched them massively eat shit to the tune of 11-3 and then his thought was ok.  What was the grade for all these guys that massively ate shit.  lol.  Blessed content.

Just looking at one area. 

Hitters overmatched. Again, far too many strikeouts. Not a lot of solid contact even. 

Granted it was against an excellent pitcher. But with the new manager and coaches I expected a bit more small ball. Try to get on base any way they could, go the other way, cut down the swing style. But it was just more of the same. 

But let's see how they do against other pitchers.
