The absence at the Ron Washington press conference is a bit interesting.   I didn't even realize he wasn't there til a couple days ago.  

I also didn't pay attention to it.

Yeah he wasn’t at Washington’s presser. Or Ohtani’s Team MVP on field ceremony. Has made zero statements or appearances. As was said here or on Twitter, nothing about Anaheim or Tempe Diablo. 

It’s possible the new Orioles owners approached Arte first and balked at the price. 

A fair amount of smoke here and an absent owner we haven’t seen or heard from in months. Perry hired all his own coaching staff, except Hurdle. Add that to the really odd offseason of spending $30 mil on the bullpen and nothing else. When Arte missed Cole he went straight to Rendon. A lot of things aren’t adding up—the whole offseason has been very un-Arte like.

Possible, but doubtful. David Rubinstein of the Carlyle Group is a lifelong Orioles fan (and a Duke grad! Woo-hoo!).

I think I also read the investment groups are Baltimore billionaires as well.

This offseason seems to indicate a sale. Lots of one year deals for spare parts; no long term commitments. That is my hope, anyway.

Yeah I posted this a few days ago. Just an odd string of events from the ghost we call Arte Moreno. 

I find it interesting that Arte has been pretty disconnected from everything since last August.

Arte was absent at Ron Washington’s press conference. 

Arte’s reaction after Shohei Ohtani left. 

Perry has only signed relievers, major league reserves and minor league depth. 

Overall vagueness of the organization. The direction of the team and the club’s PR just seems off.

Zero updates on Tempe Diablo Stadium’s refurbishment

No news on the stadium land deal.

This could all be a sign that like the Orioles, Arte may be doing a silent sale of the Angels.

Other priorities in the real world?

Health? Family issues? Complex financial entanglements? Maybe burnt out with baseball? 

Baseball is just one slice of these owners bigger pie. They aren't the baseball professionals. Owning a team is not necessarily an all consuming passion. Especially at an advanced age. It is a status symbol and income generating component of their portfolio. 

Because Arte was a pro active presence in the past doesn't mean he always will be.

He is behaving in a similar manner to Peter Angelos over the past several months.

I have a feeling that he may have decided to sell the team when Ohtani signed elsewhere.

That was about 2 months ago.

Was looking at the cap situation. Because as @Chuck pointed out, there are so many 1 year deals. They have about $40 million in expiring contracts after this year. Only real commitments in 2025 are Rendon, Trout, Anderson and Stephenson. So they are keeping their cap sheet pretty clean. I seriously doubt Arte was driving the "Sign 7 relievers for $30 million" train if he truly wants to stick around for years. Relievers have got to be the least profitable players on the team. 

I am looking for anything.

Cuban's net worth is about $6.2 billion. I doubt he would be dropping nearly half his net worth into a sports franchise with no asset value other than it's franchise and broadcast deal. If he had a partnership group it may happen but by himself?
