O’Hoppe and Thaiss is a fine starting battery.  I still think there is some unrealized upside on Thaiss’s bat and I was impressed with how he really stepped up after a horrible start last season(defensively) 

they’ll need to get some other replacement level character as a reserve.

So White and Thomas go to Salt Lake as depth pieces.  At one point, White was a first round pick, and he's had some injury problems the last 4 seasons.  

So, it's possible we either acquired a cheaper version of Rendon, or the next Moniak.

Evan White is similar to Jeff Mathis, where I watched him play and LOVE his swing. But his career has been derailed by injury and non-production. 

Odd fact, I work with his aunt.

Wonder how the Chourio contract is going to turn out.  Don't know how many have hit but seems like a lot of the pre-MLB deals turn out to be duds.  Scott Kingery, Evan White, and at least Jon Singleton were busts

At this point, it looks like White will be an expensive defensive replacement for Shanuel at first, and for Adell in the OF late in games.

I think he falls into that category of guys who never recovered from the missed developmental time.  Pitchers can miss all the time in the world and be fine -- hitters, they seem to lose it and never get it back.  Jurikson Profar has not looked anything like the player he was before his shoulder injury and he may be the best example of a guy that missed a lot of time and DID make it all the way back.
