Then I guess that's just their way to convince him to play for a crappy team that won't allow him to lose in the finals again

They are actually building a team that may flirt with the playoffs.  Looking at their division.  Winnipeg is just imploding.  Coyotes are an AHL team.  Blues look like they may start a rebuild.  Same with the Predators.  Wild is in buyout cap hell.  That leaves the Avalanche and Stars as your only sure thing.  Anything can happen with that third spot.

Ouch.  You would have thought you could find someone to trade for him.  @arch stanton  Reunion back in Colorado?

Nashville Predators to buy out Matt Duchene

His Buyout numbers per Capfriendly.

Duchene, Matt   $2,555,556 $5,555,556 $6,555,556 $1,555,556 $1,555,556 $1,555,556

Maybe not a great fit in Colorado these days. He begged out like a pussy and he probably doesn't defend up to Bednar standards.

In other buyouts, Detroit bought out Yamamoto days after trading for him. Blake Wheeler out in Winnipeg, Mike Reilly in Boston

Yamamoto one is a weird one.  You would have thought Detroit would have tried him a bit since he is so young.

They already have a shitload of forwards so maybe just didn't have minutes for him. There's a chance he ends up playing on someone's AHL team

Nah, no matter how bad the Central is, Chicago will be near the bottom competing for their second lottery pick.

The Ducks have a (much) better chance of getting on a streak and catching a WC slot. But, I'm confident Verbeek will do what he can to squash that.

I think Chicago is going to make sure to put guys around Bedard who will protect and mentor him without much concern for winning hockey games. You can't make the playoffs with one line and a bunch of stiffs.

They probably tried to get Toews to come back. I'd like to know what he said to them.
