Matt Murray Undergoes Successful Surgery

Quote

Sportsnet is reporting that Toronto Maple Leafs netminder Matt Murray has undergone successful bilateral hip surgery and is expected to miss between six and eight months. This likely means he will miss the entire 2023-24 NHL season.

Looks like Scheifele and Hellebuyck signed identical 7 x 8.5 contracts and Hellebuyck has full no move for this season. That changes the situation for goalies like Gibson who could be trade bait

Yeah, I saw that.  Good news for us.

I thought the reports were both those guys wanted out.

Only the Jets could give them 8 years and I think Hellebuyck realized that the last 2 Cup winners were Darcy Kuemper and Aden Hill. Maybe Scheifele still thinks he can end up in Boston once they clear some money

It remains to be seen whether Robin Lehner will ever suit up again. He is a year removed from hip surgery, having missed the entire 2022-23 season. Lehner has two years remaining on a $25M/5 yr deal. The Knights signing Adin Hill to a long term deal speaks to their belief about his future.

The Jets also signed Laurent Brossoit, That's a lot of goaltenders. Brossoit played well for the Golden Knights in the playoffs when Logan Thompson and Adin Hill were both injured, before getting injured himself.

Maybe if they get another #1 overall pick it will solve all their problems.

I mean, if the chances of the Ducks getting the #1 pick was 30%, and there was a franchise generational player available.  Of course Edmonton and their 10% would get it.

Well, that's the way it's been. But, who knows, there's a new favorite in town (Chicago) who might give them a push.

You know what hurts is reading all the Chicago &^%$  that, when they stink this year, you know will include "If we only had Celebrini to go with Bedard."

And then they get him.

Yup, the we need more than Bedard. Right now by the looks of it, Bedard may not even win the Calder.
