It looked recently like this franchise was going to turn things around. And, they did somewhat. But, it seems now questions have to be asked as to whether the coach and GM have reached their ceiling.

The clock is running out on McDavid. He would be a fool to resign with this org unless they show SCF ability rather quickly. Do him a favor Gretzky. Tell him how nice the weather is in SoCal.

Draidle is coming up for FA'cy in 2 years.  He'll be the first to leave or get traded.  McJesus soon after that.

The only good news is, that they can get a haul to start a rebuild.  Just sad that they had everything needed, and couldn't get it done.

Something that gets overlooked are the high quality 2nd round picks they had. Who , besides Darnell Nurse (Who they've overpaid and is now a detriment) do they have to show for those picks?

My mistake, Nurse was a 1st round pick.

Half the picks were traded away. The other half shows how keeping picks didn't accomplish much.

The best thing the Avs have ever done with a 2nd round pick is send two of them to the NYI for Devon Toews

A lot of misses by the Ducks in the second round. It seems like a round where the players who shoulda/could  don't because of...?

Mental reasons, motivation, lacking too much of an essential skill, peaked early with insufficient room for growth.

It seems like the second round is treated as too early to go after longshots so safe picks tend to be made. But too often the safe picks turn out to not be good enough for prime time.

Just a random site.  But there is quite a cliff compared to first and second rounders.  If you can find them, great.  But chances are, second rounders are going to be busts.

In the second round I think teams tend to look for top 6 type talent with caveats such as size or skating and try to fix that so it doesn't always work so well. May that's the place to look for identity type players that fit what your org want to do

Corey Perry is one of those players that is easy to hate, unless he is on your team.

Kind of a low level Eichel type signing. I guess the doctor who did the surgery has had some recent success with a surgery that has little success in the past. It could be huge for Detroit if he only fills a Perry type roll.
