Here in particular, they are very careful from a security standpoint. Big winners are escorted somewhere out of view by security, and with all of the eyes in the sky, they make sure that no one is following. They are also escorted out when they leave. Nobody leaves with anything that can be stolen in a robbery.

A few of our detectives went to a meeting this week with multiple agencies that are dealing with this. Irvine I guess is getting pillaged right now.

We had a neighborhood watch meeting last week in the area that keeps getting hit. No idea if it's related or not, but people there were saying they've seen an uptick in drones flying around the weeks they've been hit.

I would say "an" is acceptable since the S in STD begins with a vowel sound.

Would you say "an" sexually transmitted disease? I don't think the sound the "S" makes at the front of the acronym makes any difference.  I haven't taken English since sophomore year, so who knows.

if using initials, you go by the sound of the first letter. in this case, the S has a short E sound, so "an" is the correct response.

if he had written out "sexually transmitted disease", then "a" would be correct.

They've been hitting Long Beach hard as well.  Apparently they're renting nice(r) cars with paper tags so the cars fit in, and are in and out within ten minutes.  Saw NextDoor video of 3 dudes backing up their car to a garage and hauling a safe out.

Talked to some residents of Hickory that were from out of state. They called it the state of 80%ers. They do about 80% of what you contract them to do. Then just pack it up and walk away, never returning to finish.

Well, I don’t doubt it. Like a lot of places it pays to be from the area and know the history of all the local businesses. A lot of contractors got their money from moonshine and started  crooked construction business. Many of the good ones finally died out or didn’t survive when furniture and textiles left.
They’ve been replaced by white people smart enough to pass the contractors exam with little hands on knowledge. They’ll hire the cheapest Honduran and don’t take pride in their family name or fear people talking shit about them come Sunday morning.
