The game started apparently with some Blue Angels stunts over the park and the ROOT channel has been on a pretty long fireworks show for about 15-minutes or more. What's the occasion?

Modern rules. The winning run scored without a hit or even a walk involved. Two sacrifices get the run in. Well executed, but more like chess than baseball. And Herget snagging the slow roller and holding the runner at second was a key play in preventing the tying run.

The blown ninth inning was no surprise. Very few clean, efficient wins this season. Nice to see Herget emotional after the third out. He's a useful bullpen arm who can be plugged into different situations. Not many pure off speed specialists any more, but if his control is good he can fool lots of hitters. And is a contrast to most of the others on the staff.

He bunts well, but it's kind of embarrassing seeing Velazquez square around sometime during almost every at bat. An admission of no self confidence as a hitter. And sadly, justified. But give him credit for sustaining a major league career only on his glove. 

I really dislike the Mariners and their broadcasters. That Aussie commentator has lots of contempt for opposing teams. Hopefully their angst intensifies this weekend.

I was lucky enough to be at the game tonight, and games like those remind me why I am a baseball fan. 
 

Sandoval threw me up a baseball after his last warmup pitch he threw before heading out of the pen. 
 

The 9 year old beside me got “8 or 7 autographs” from Angel players. I was really impressed by the friendliness of Detmers, Chavez, Hergett, Touki, Butera, and Davidson alike. 
 

Life’s good gentleman. Hopefully this is a playoff team next year.

Both of us like to relax by scrapbooking. We usually get together during the winter months but the summer break has afforded me the chance to reconnect with him and work on our various projects. 
 

He has a world class sticker collection.
