It's been a while since we've had a toolsy MIFer at the top of our farm system.

Much more discussion about his power hitting and running. Not much (if any ) about his defense. Just his arm strength. What about range, turning the dp, etc? He is a shortstop after all. Of course a 'squid' model is not wanted, but defense is pretty important at that position.

MLB Network guys were impressed with his glove….thought he was one of the better combo glove and bat guys available…

OPS over 1.000 in the Cape Cod League last year and over 1.300 SFCL the previous season.   So, he's done extremely well in the wood bat leagues.

Campbell played in the NCAA Regional in Knoxville…He was 7 for 13 vs GaTech and Tennessee pitching…and Wilson may have played in the ACC at NCSt but he has sucked so far in the minors….Our last two ACC 1st round picks have been terrible—-add Thaiss to Wilson…

It's pretty hitter friendly.  Kind of funny but Campbell is maybe the biggest pitcher's park in the conference.  But most years the league average batting line is good for like a 750-775 OPS.

Big South is kind of like the Atlantic Sun Conference.   

They both typically field a few teams that should be in better conferences but don't have the facilities bigger schools have.  Honestly, it's like a Walmart Big West with CSUF, UCI, and LB State.

The Angels have scouted the Cape Cod League heavier than any other team in baseball, I think. If someone performs well in the Cape Cod, then the Angels will draft him.

Looks like a very solid pick.   The Angels went all in on pitching last year and some of those guys will have a chance to make the bigs in a year or so.   Solid position players may have a quicker path and be ready to contribute sooner.  The Angels definitely had a need at SS and they got the best available guy.

I'll take this guy over a $160,000,000 32 yr old ex all star SS solidly locked onto his downward glide path and multiple injury ridden seasons.

Who really knows the whole draft is a crapshoot.

With that said, I like the pick.

I really Like this pick! Neto has pretty good upsides, Law had him ranked #8th in his draft ranking, and others had him in their top 15. He has a really good upside to, might not be a star, but similar to what Scotty said on the prospect threat, he could be a 270, really GOOD OBP and 15-20 hr guy with 30 doubles. 

That high kick reminds me alot of Justin turner, and it also seems like Neto doesn't alway go to that high leg kick when he needs to.
