Sometimes I really hate Gubi: "Threw the ball really really well today." He gave up 5 runs and 8 hits against a very mediocre offense and got outdueled by a dude with an over 8 ERA. That's not what most people consider "really really well."

Just glad it was only a 1yr deal. Of course, like majority of their signings, they end up paying more than the value they get in return

Dude, we won the World Series for a lot more reasons than Appier. My point is that he was just an OK pitcher with the Angels - a #3-4 at best - compared to what he was in the 90s.

Yeah, we actually had a good offense and lock down bullpen. Anytime someone mentions Appier though, I think of winning the World Series. The Angels org clearly doesn't know how to put together a good pitching staff. It will remain that way until Arte sells the team.

I think the problem with Syndergaard is that he's being paid $21M to basically be a slightly better version of Jaime Barria. It was a gamble that didn't pay off. I mean, at least he's pitching innings and isn't a complete waste. But if part of building a good team is making good on your resources, the Angels suck at it.
