Rosenthal on David Fletcher

In The Athletic today, Rosenthal had a note about Fletcher:

"David Fletcher, batting .158 with a .483 OPS underwent surgery to repair both his left and right adductor muscles on Tuesday. The Angels believe the injuries compromised his offense both this season and last, and anticipate he might show improvement once he returns, likely in two months."

Not holding my breath but if he managed to return to 2019/2020 levels at the plate, that would be monumental.

I mean, something has been up. He was getting better each year and seemed to be settling into a groove as an above average slap hitter, then completely collapsed into being one of the worst hitters in the game. But...I'll believe it when I see it.

At his age, if the bat speed has declined, injury is the clear reason.  Wouldnt be hard to diagnose.

This came to mind when the announcement came that they were going to opt for surgery, don’t have my hopes up

it's very easy to believe. also, why wouldn't you believe it? he HAD surgery, they don't just cut on you because your obp sucks. it'll be awesome if he gets back to being the david fletcher we all knew and loved.
