Extend Raisel

Alright,

Now that we didn't deal him, let's lock this guy up. He blows a save here and there but he's elite and his arm is something you can build a bullpen around. He should be productive enough to justify a 3 year deal through his age 34 season.

Now this I can agree on rather than extending Cobb.

If indeed we can count on Ohtani, Sandoval, Detmers, Rodriguez, Barria, Suarez (and perhaps an extended Cobb?), Then the Angels are looking at 45-ish million to play with, and will need a shortstop and a new bullpen.

Let's just say play with the numbers and say they bring back Iglesias on something like two years, 14 million. That would leave them around 38 million to play with.

When comparing Iglesias with his contemporaries that have recently got FA, you're looking at 8 million on the low end value and 15 million on the high end. Iglesias will be justified in asking over 15, but I think it'll take 3/45 to keep him.

That still leaves the Angels with 23 million to play with and more than likely three more good relievers needed. That's PLENTY of money.

The only way it doesn't work is if the Angels chase a TOR starter, and even then, if they backload it, they could probably pull it off.

So yes, extend him.

i don't know why any player on a losing club, 50 games from FA, would forgo the opportunity to hit the open market, when that is the one and only place where they can expect to maximize their worth and choose their landing spot.

not trading iglesias was a monument of the angels continued dysfunction. i just can't believe it's the FO anymore. we've been through too many.

There are just too many variables that we don’t know to come to this conclusion. Maybe they are already in talks? Maybe Raisel likes living in So Cal?

it doesn't matter. get the premium prospect for the most desirable FA you have, then sign him in the off season if he likes so cal so much and you want him back. all the angels did was forgo getting the premium prospect.

It takes someone willing to give up a premium prospect to get one.

there's no way you can reasonably just reject the idea that a superior player with a reasonable contract wasn't able to be traded when nearly countless others were. there's no way you believe that's true even on it's own stand alone merit, without even considering the angels history of holding onto expiring contracts.

Dhalsim got his name from an Indian restaurant, called Dhal's, in Osaka near Capcom's office (Dhal is lentils, shimis Hyacinth beans). The restaurant is no longer in operation. During the development of Street Fighter II, the early original design for Dhalsim bore a striking resemblance to Ganesha, a …
