I actually didn't have much of a problem with pulling Quintana, i had a problem with who he brought in.

I guess I look at it like this.  We need length from our starters and we are at game 3 of 11 in 10 days.  Each out he requires the pen to get us an out that will be tougher to get tomorrow.

I think you guys should try this...

Put little notes in your phone or something about when you think a pitcher should come out or not come out and who should come in. Do it right at the time it you think it. Then keep track of how often you were right or wrong.

Then just ignore all the times you were right and only track how many times a game you’re wrong.

I think the problem with fans’ analysis of bullpen moves is it’s all done after you see the results. And you are NEVER going to give the manager credit when the reliever succeeds but you will ALWAYS blame him when the reliever fails.

At the end of the day we are looking for wins. Just how anyone is.

I'm guilty for this too by blaming more for failure. But even if the bullpen shuts it down I would still have scratched my head as to why Quintana got the early hook.

74 pitches through 4.1 innings isn't being overworked. Dude was looking for his first win while facing the top of the lineup that he fooled all game.

To me, that approach had Brad Ausmus (terrified to face to order a third time) written all over it.

Let Quintana finish the 5th to earn the win. Our starting rotation needs those chances.

Had he let Quintana continue he would have used fewer. There is no upside to your argument. Maddon over reacted and the Red Sox pounced on the opportunity.

Similar to his pull of Ohtani at 88 pitches on his last start. Maddon has form for this sort of thing. Bad form.
