Yeah, kind of like the Angels getting Iglesias for "free." He was a salary dump, so they're paying $9M for a year of him.

I fixed it - forgot the Pirates claimed Soriano.

The bottom line is that the Angels should have protected Soriano and they didn't.

Your analogy still doesn't work, though.  The Astros had Rivera last year and now they have him again--so it's like he essentially never left.  If you want to say "Pirates get Soriano, Angels get jackshit," then cool...but it's still not really the same idea.

Your bottom line is probably correct.  You're just going about getting there the wrong way.  🙂

Well, I'm being facetious and picking on the Angels (and we fans) for bobbling the pass. I remember many of us saying, "Crap, we lost Soriano but Rivera looks even better and is close to major league ready! At worse its a wash."

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the Angels get Soriano back. He won't be on the IL all year and I doubt the Astros will want to take up a roster spot in a playoff run. On the other hand, they could be assholes and falsely keep him on the IL all year with "complications" during his recovery.
