I'm for one surprised but happy about move. So many options on the market. Steve Cishek, Tony Watson among others. Hope this helps Buttrey in long run.

Yeah.  I do think he has good stuff, but maybe the current FO/Maddon feels they need to work on his pitches and/or approach.  Hard to say really, but the fact that he was demoted and, apparently, Noe Ramirez might be added suggests that they would have more faith in Noe than Buttrey, which isn't a great sign for Buttrey.

Hopefully he can work on his game and improve.

The good news is that you can transform a bullpen pretty quickly throughout the year with a couple small trades if need be, which is probably what the Angels will need to do at some point because their current pen is.....not ideal.

Optioning Buttrey might mean they’re zeroing in on acquiring or claiming another reliever who  doesn’t have options. Might be worth watching out of options arms who are about to get squeezed out...could see a small trade like the Orioles did with Plutko or one of those recent opt outs signed.

To Minasian's credit, he did basically completely overturn it.  Time will tell how successful he is, but yeah, he completely overhauled that bullpen.

With time, I'd expect to see two other holdovers (Pena as he returns from the IL, Buttrey at some point, maybe Ramirez makes it back too), but nevertheless, he certainly did change it in a hurry.

Half of the 26 man roster were with another org in 2020.

All 13 of them are FAs after this season.

In that area, I hope Perry knows what he’s doing.
