Eh?  A Libertarian would definitely not want laws restricting abortion

Most of the conservatives on this board seem to lean Libertarian, but also hold a pro-life stance. So maybe they aren't really Libertarian?  Or maybe it's just cool to say you are?

Having gone down the libertarian internet rabbit hole for the past 5 years I think most libertarians hate the Libertarian Party. Also if you considered all the small "l" libertarians and LP folks it's going to be about 50/50 on the abortion issue.

Abortion is the rights of a woman being elevated above the rights of a child in a situation where one must be elevated above the other. It’s not a libertarian issue.

You means decides it is elevated above the other, not must be.

If a woman desires an abortion and a fetus doesn’t, one of them has to get their way and the other can’t.

So if someone can't voice their opinion on whether they should be killed someone else should hold that power?

This is way oversimplifying it, but I’ve always felt like there are two schools of Libertarians. One school is basically anarchists that don’t want to be like that one punk kid in high school. The other is really just a bunch of Republicans that think the Libertarian party is the best option for keeping the government’s hands off their money/business. I respect the first school slightly more, but not really.

This is pretty accurate. You gotta mix in the left libertarians though - the Nohm Chomsky types. Literally, in the LP there's anarchist caucuses, paleo-conservative caucuses, socialist caucuses, etc. It's so stupid. The LP is a total shitshow and a waste of the largest 3rd party

No, that’s a separate issue. I’m only saying that abortion is an issue where there is only a win/lose outcome. The state is forced to decide the circumstances of when one side wins/loses or else the decision is left to whoever holds physical power in the situation (the woman).

i like certain planks of the libertarian party but they lose me on open borders and legalizing all drugs.

i feel like i'm still a reagan republican. not real fond of where my party is right now.

not interested in the democratic party. too many extreme elements and platforms i don't support.

not really sure who represents my POV these days.

I just wish more pro-lifers were willing to adopt, and not just "we're thinking about it someday."  There are currently over 400k children in the foster care system in the U.S.

I tend to agree with this, especially in Christian circles.

My best friend in high school, my best friend in college and one if my best friends post-college are all adopted.

All Christians.

But this isn't about adopting. That's an entirely different topic.

True, but Rico made the point that if more pro-lifers adopted, they would be consistent with their pro-life stance.
