It’s sort of interesting wondering if the Nats intended to throw Game 5 and use Scherzer for 7. Burn up Ross vs. Cole and put all your faith in Strasburg for 6 and Scherzer for 7, rather than risk burning Scherzer’s start in a tough game versus Cole and being forced to count on Ross et al in 7.

Pretty ballsy gamble but makes sense.

I know it does not fit the Angels plans at all but if we somehow wound up with Rendon I would not be mad. Watching him this October, he’s a far better player than I ever gave him credit for.

If it is true, pretty likely it'll be kept secret for years and years...super risky, but if there was any scenario in which it made the most sense, this would be it, given how good all three Cole, Strasburg, and Scherzer have been.
