That limits their trade options.

I don’t think a team is going to trade for a 36 year old starter at 2 years and $50 million.  Why would a team trade for him when they could sign Ryu, Bumgarner for less, that are younger, less expensive and you don’t have to deal with the no trade nonsense. If the Astros want to unload that entire contract they might have to add a young player, which would be silly because they are going to need young affordable players to fill out the roster because of how expensive Verlander, Bregman, Altuve, Springers extension, Correa’s extension and either Cole or Greinke depending on if a trade like this we’re to happen.

Greinke is owed $64M  ...  they could use all the D’backs money and get it down to 2yrs/$40M. Greinke posted all-star type stats last season. He’s younger than Verlander.

All I’m saying it’s a possibility ... the Astros probably want to keep him anyways.

No, Houston is on the hook for $50 million.  You are missing the deferred money that was part of the deal.

Actually we were both wrong, the Astros owe him $48 million and change for the next two years,  He is owed $68 million and change, the Diamondbacks are paying $10.3 million a year.

I'm good with the Halos being on that no trade list.    He's struggled this October, and as mentioned will be 36 in 2020 with 2 years/$48 million still due  for whoever he pitches for.
