Ultimate Baseball Trivia

Recommended Posts

An "immaculate inning" is when a pitcher faces only three batters and strikes them out on nine pitches. This has occurred 50 times in the history of baseball. The most recent was Ivan Nova of the Yankees, who did it on May 29 of this year.

Question: Who are the three pitchers who have accomplished this feat TWICE in their careers?

All three are in the Hall of Fame.

More hints needed, as this is a fairly difficult question.

The deceased pitcher led his league in ERA nine times, and led in strikeouts seven years in a row. His greatest years were the mid-1920's to early 1930's.

He did not have a no-hitter in his career, but the other two each had more than one in their careers.
