I figured it out (a while ago) in less than 2 minutes.

 

Yes, it was a bit of a fluke.

 

Just think about it..what the hell do these guys have in common?

 

It has nothing to do with stats..nothing to do with play time and nothing to do with teams/teams played for.

Stoneman?

Bill Stoneman it is.

 

His first no-hitter in 1969 was also only the 9th game of the new Montreal Expos franchise. 

 

Both no-hitters were won by 7-0 scores. Tim McCarver was the Expos catcher for the second one, on the final day of the 1972 season.

 

Stoneman almost had another no-hitter in 1971 against the Padres. He settled for a one-hitter and struck out 14 batters. The one hit was a clean single by Cito Gaston, the only hard-hit ball of the game.
