Speaking of which, I miss DHs. The one in Oakland two years ago was a blast although they lost the 2nd game.

The 1978 seat cushion night DH with the Twins was almost the best time I ever had at the stadium. Yep, banging seat cushions together does generate a lot of noise. It didn't hurt either that it was the first contending season since 1970.

One more thing about Berra:

June 24, 1962-  A marathon game between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Yankees ends in the 22nd inning at Tiger Stadium, when Jack Reed's HR (his only MLB career home run) gives Yankees  rookie reliever Jim Bouton, a 9-7 victory. Reserve OF Jack Reed had replaced Joe Pepitone in the 13th  inning. For the Tigers, Phil Regan takes the loss, while Tigers OF  Rocky Colavito has 7 hits. Yankees 2B  Bobby Richardson ties a mark by  going to the plate 11 times. At an even 7 hours, the game is the slowest extra-inning contest in American League history and it is the  longest game in innings in New York Yankees history. Veteran Yankees Catcher Yogi Berra caught the whole game for the New York Yankees.

Correct on the Gehrig home runs. First player in the 20th century to do that.

Partially right on Lazzeri. He hit one grand slam in that game, but that's not the specific feat in question.

Later in his career he hit two grand slams in a game. He was the first player to do that, but not the last.
