They did it with Harvey.

That’s why I said with just anyone at any given time.

It’s different for a guy like Harvey - he’s getting paid $11m and clearly needed some readjustment. And he also could have actually been physically injured to some degree too.

Placing a league minimum rookie who’s bouncing between 40-man rosters and clearly was healthy enough to throw 3 innings hours later is pretty obvious manipulation, and the kind of thing players union/reps wouldn’t be particular pleased with.

Edit: and Cahill.

It’s called stupid.  Albert played all 16 innings last night.  You don’t simply gamble and hope for the best, its asinine.

WTF did we do last night with Canning!

Tropeano and whoever's they pitch tomorrow.

We are fucked!  And the shuttle back and forth to salt lake city has fucked us!

Um, no, it isn’t what fucked us.  Having injuries, ineffective players, and a death has fucked us, not the shuttle back and forth.

I have no idea why they made the move, what I do know is Mejia isn’t the one to be upset about.  If you want to be, go for it, it is silly in my mind.  Dude had an 8 ERA this year.  So you send Anderson down, so then you are down to pitchers in the pen this weekend because Mejia isn’t going to pitch after throwing four straight games and three innings yesterday.

Is Trop really any different than Barria or Suarez or Canning or Pena?  They are all just warm bodies that have good and bad games.

I look forward to the day when they finally have a durable enough rotation.   How long has it been since they had enough guys who could pitch 6 innings often enough?

Yeah, but to be fair, our offense has been fine, and Mejia is still young enough and close enough to being a top prospect that it hurts a bit to lose any arm with potential at this point.

We'll find out soon if the waiver wire agrees with you, starting with Detroit and Baltimore

Sure. It’d be nice if you could keep everybody but you can’t. The next best alternative was optioning Cole, who has allowed 1 run in his last 15 innings. Then you lose him for 10 days. The Angels are now in a spot where they’re trying to give themselves the best chance to win every game.

They’re painted into a corner because they don’t have enough starting pitchers who provide enough innings, which is what leads to this whole mess.

Totally understand why...just seeing why folks might have more justifiable reason to be bummed about Mejia being DFAed than Puello.
