Eppler's Signings This Year

I didn’t mind the Cahill signing when it happened. I thought he would help with a rotation of Skaggs, Heaney, and Harvey. But how disheartening is it for the Average Joe to see this guy get 9 million dollars a year? Over 99% of the worlds population won’t see that in their entire life.

Cahill was good in the first half, actually the first two months, but well below average after. He got injured in June, when he came back he wasn't the same guy that we saw in April and May.

His worst signing might have been Brad Ausmus. He's like the Jerry Dipoto of managers: he talks a good game but his moves just seem stupid.

Bourjos is irrelevant!  He barely plays unless a defensive replacement or pitch runner.

Harvy Cahill and Stratton are disasters.

Agree not a good year for signings.  Has Eppler ever signed a quality free agent that he didnt get off the scrap heap?

Mickey Mantle made $85,000 in 1961. That is equivalent to $716,604 in today’s dollars. 4 years later he was on the cover of Life Magazine. So no, I don’t believe a guy with a 6.95 ERA should be earning $9,000,000 in a year.

I agree with you, but this is more the result of late capitalism than it is the fault of Cahill or even Eppler. In other words, the fact that an average professional baseball player makes about $10 million a year points to what is wrong with our society, not Cahill.
