You really don't understand the meaning of the word mediocrity.

The Tigers were mediocre. The A's, Reds, Phillies and Giants were truly mediocre baseball teams.

The Nationals won 97 games. That's pretty damn good. They didn't make the World Series but every year 28 teams don't. Only 6 teams make the playoffs and only 4 teams win their division. The Nationals we're one of the four.

Baker may not have led them to the promised land but even with Harper out for a month and Strasberg playing head games he kept the team together.

Maybe he is a 162 game manager. Who knows but after Baker started as manager Harper stopped having fights with his own teammates and fewer incidents on the field.

He is taking the blame for not beating the Cubs. It's not like he was on a long term contract, the Nationals haven't kept a manager more than two years since Frank Robinson took naps in the dugout. That is more of a reflection on the franchise more than the manager

I absolutely understand the meaning of mediocrity. Its not okay to be just good enough to get into the playoffs. They have not made a deep playoff run. Its not okay to accept excuses for the teams failures. Status quo is not accepted. There is no participation award for everyone. When you have a team built to win it all anything less than the ultimate goal is unacceptable. Why is it so hard for you guys to understand that? Make progress and move toward the ultimate goal or move on.

Doesn't hurt playing in the NL East and having Max Scherzer, Daniel Murphy, and Anthony Rendon while Ryan Zimmerman and Gio Gonzalez had their best season after years of pedestrian numbers.

Dave Roberts was able to get the Dodgers to the World Series with basically the same team, that Don Mattling managed. Some people don't get it.

No, he has a much different team.  He has an entirely new bullpen minus Jansen.  He has a new 2nd baseman, new 1st baseman, Alex Wood, Darvish.  Oh and Justin Turner is having a career year.

97 wins isn't just good enough to get to the playoffs. It was taking their divsion without a fight. Damn you are a stubborn mule.

Do the ANGELS  win the 2002 World Series if Dusty  isn't the manager of the Giants?

If Dusty wasn't the manager of the Giants in 2002, do they make the playoffs? You see, Bob, you are playing a game you can't win because you can't rewrite history just because you hated the outcome. Oh, and the following season Felipe Alou didn't make it through the playoffs so that might be a little hint.

How sad it must be for you the Angels actually won a World Series with an ex Dodger as manager. The rest of us have been pretty fucking happy about seeing one in their lifetime.

I'm not sure you do, finishing 4th out of 30 doesn't meet the definition.
