Andrelton Simmons' Defense

I know he gets a ton of praise around here but I feel like he deserves his own thread right now. The guy is simply unbelievable in the field, I've never seen an infielder be able to make every play look easy like he does, with the range he has.

I'm ashamed that I hated the trade when it happened. Simmons is, in some ways, as fun to watch as Trout. It's amazing how easy he makes everything look. 

I think keeping him an Angel for the rest of his career is priority number 2 behind Trout.

He is ridiculously smooth. Look at the play last night that got reversed. He short-hopped a bad throw, applied a perfect tag, kept the twg down, and simultaneously motioned to the dugout to challenge the call. All while making it look as simple as though he was just casually playing catch.

He's the best defensive short stop I've ever seen.  Granted I watch damn near every Angel game and I didn't watch Ozzie or Visquel 150 games a year.  I used to think because of those high light reel plays those two made that maybe they had more range, nope.  Simmons is ALWAYS in position to make the play.  He has as good of arm as anyone to ever play the position. He's just about at Erstad status as my favorite defensive players ever.

There nothing Newcomb can do as a pitcher that could equal the value as a everyday player like Simmons.

Also Simmons is always backing up the play when he should.  Runner on third?  Guess who is backing up the throw back to the pitcher, every time?  

Not to take anything away from OCab, but I bet AJ doesn't get to first if Simmons is on the field for game 2 of the Chi Sox series.

I hope Simmons enjoys SoCal and would like to play the rest of his career here.

It was wrong of Sanchez to sucker punch Cabrera but I can't feel sorry for Cabrera who initially started the whole incident by punching a guy that's a foot shorter than him.

Karma hits big time, M-Cab sucks in 2017.   And to think that they still owe him at least 6 years/$192 million.

Back on topic, Trout/Simmons/Machete is a great foundation defensively.

Just need a rock solid 2B to be atop MLB up the middle.

Beyond the next-level defensive skills it is his in-game instincts that set him apart. The back-picks, base-runner awareness, and his mental will and desire to be a perfectionist of the defensive arts set him apart from every player in the game to be honest.

One of the best defenders I have ever watched.  In person it is even more amazing seeing just how easy he makes it look.  His instincts are second to none.
