Angels to Acquire Justin Upton

Should Upton stay - and there is a chance he will because he still has good money ahead of him and is moving to a contender - a Long for Upton deal is pretty damn good.

If Upton opts out, Grayson Long is certainly worth giving up for a better chance at/in the playoffs in one of our Trout Years.

MoreThe #Angels are picking up majority of Upton's $22.5 million salary this year, and remaining $88.5 M after this season. He does have opt-out.

I would argue that there's almost no reason for him NOT to opt out after the year he's had this year.

I guess....but the Tigers didn't have a lot of leverage here....he was going to opt out and you're getting him for only a month, guaranteed....so we'll see.... for now, I like it....

Valid point, but how much more does he think he would get i guess?  already getting 22 mil per for the next 4 and not too many likely to overpay for his 35+ seasons so getting a 6 years deal for example on FA doesnt really seem that likely.   His choice to opt out might have been more about not wanting to lose than money.
Its possible of course, maybe even probable, but not a given.

Upton wasnt a top choice for me, but if this is the deal, i like it .

I agree. It's a win/win for me @totdprods
