I never said it was a good/bad decision but it was understood why.

Good or bad decisions are unknown until after the fact.

not to get too involved in this, but the post above is a circular argument. you're intentionally not taking a position, so that you can't be wrong.

Not always, There are times when based on past results there are a better chances of something happening than other times. That is why Vegas gives odds, or point spreads in some sports.

I know he's a Philly fan, but Trout should have worn Skaggs's #44 Jerry West jersey yesterday, because he is MR. CLUTCH.

Im gonna derail off topic because everyone is arguing, but good pull. Jerry west was a beast. Younger lake fans have no idea how good he was on the court, and how good he and buss were as a front office.

My position is ... I understood why.

Scioscia is a master at turning the page ... meaning the past (terrible) appearances were forgotten. Soch also trust his players and Norris was still part of the tail end of the bullpen. Norris was rested and it was his turn to pitch ... it's as simple as that. Pitching to Cruz was questionable but that's baseball.

stop encouraging him.  it will only make your eyes bleed for logic and you will be left blind and afraid.

Bud doesn't seem capable of locating his pitches anymore. Could be the knee is changing his delivery in some small way? Whatever it is at least we've probably seen the last of him late in a close game and they were able to save Middleton and Petit for tomorrow. All's well that ends well

He's still touching 94-95mph.   But being flat with his pitches does him no good.   Billy Koch threw 100mph for the A'th in the early 2000s, and straight as an arrow.

No wonder teams showed little interest in Norris, even before the meltdown started on July 25.

There was a thread recently where some suggested hitting your best hitter third so they could have the opportunity to drive in more runs, and that the extra occasional PA wouldn't change a whole lot. Sure Pujols and Trout ended up with the same number of PAs tonight, but here's a perfect example of why you hit your best hitter second

Hitting third worked out OK for Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle. The only time a player gets more AB in a game hitting second as opposed to third, is if he hits a walk off or he makes the last out. So if it's a walk off it didn't matter because you one the game anyway. If you make the last out it didn't help for an obvious reason.

Or, if you put someone in the 2 spot just because you want your guy to bat 3rd then you will often essentially waste an out in the 1st inning before your guy gets to bat. If you truly have 2 legit on base guys to hit up top then by all means do it but if you don't then why waste that out in the 1st before you bring hour best hitter up?

Using that argument why waste any outs and hit him first. Batting third he has 100% better chance at having 2 men on and no outs as he does batting second in the first inning.

And 100% better chance of coming up with 2 outs and the bases empty to get pitched around

So it is a wash, 6 in one hand and 1/2 dozen in the other.

Also a better chance of at least 1 man on when coming to the plate. 2 players with a .350+ OBP would be perfect especially if they were fast runners, batting 1 and 2 in front of Trout.
