Shane Robinson recalled

Why?

I get that he's hitting over .300 in Salt Lake, but he has little else to offer in terms of stolen bases, HR power and really has no upside other than a 6th OF.

Why no Cesar Puello who is killing it, slashing .316/.370/.516 with 12 HR, 14 SB's and only 26 years old, compared to the lite-hitting 32 year old.

Scioscialism. The more veteran player always gets priority.

They probably don't want to start Puello's clock serving as a 4th OF for two weeks in what likely won't be a playoff season.

I don't think it has to do with his clock as much as who they will have to send down after Maybin returns (and he will at least for a short period of time to show he's healthy). Robinson cleared waivers before and has been loyal to the organization so he is a likely guy who won't be picked up on waivers whereas Puello might.

Shane Robinson gets MLB family health care coverage if he logs enough bench time. Since the Angels are in a rebuild and not seriously thinking playoffs at this point, I would chalk up Shane's time as a charity offering. His daughter still needs medical attention.

I actually thought about that as well.

If that's right, it would speak volumes about this organization and proud to be a fan.

Pretty sure that a player gets lifetime health/medical benefit by spending just one day on a major league roster.

An article I read about Robinson said benefits follow playing time on the MLB roster when it comes to family. The player compensation is different.
