Actually, that's an interesting tidbit: Bandy has a 139 wRC+, making him the best hitting Angels catcher with 100+ PA. Of course that won't last, but still.

Also interesting is the fact that Napoli and Bandy were hardly touted in the minor leagues. With all the hype around Jeff Mathis coming into that season I hate legitimately never heard of Mike Napoli before they called him up (after Mathis fell on his face). Similar story to Jett Bandy, with all the talk of how this organization has 0 prospects, I had not heard of Bandy until Scotty started hyping the shit out of him on here this offseason.

Dude is on fire and about to be in the conversation of MVP.

You know the old saying for presenters "Picture the audience naked"

Well the key to Napoli's success isn't pretending the audience naked, he's just pretending that the audience (opponent in this case) is wearing an Angel jersey.

I really liked having Napoli as a part of the Angels and think they should have kept him but, at .253 .339 .851 while sitting at 1 WAR with over half the year gone, he's not even the most the valuable player on his team.

who is the girl in that avatar and why is she sticking her legs and feet out so invitingly?

Even if we kept Napoli would Sosh have played him? We would all be on here cursing the Big Catorce for making Napoli ride the pine while Jeffy got the starts.

Cut out the propaganda.  Napoli played for Scioscia.  He wasn't a full time catcher.  He did play a lot at 1b and DH if I am not mistaken.

Personally I thought he should have platoonEd at DH with Abreau and got extra time at 1b and catcher.  But the infamous traded went down.

We all think Napoli should have had more playing time than he received here. Sosh didn't like his attitude or his late nights at Goat Hill. It's fairly well known. I'm not a Scioscia hater but for the love of god... Jeff F****ing Mathis?

If early in Napoli's minor league careeer had he been switched to 1B/DH he would have over 300 HRs by now & if he had stayed with the Angels he would be the Franchise leader in career HRs (which is possible if he was only a 1B with the Angels & Scioscia not blocking him with Mathis) until Trout passes him by.
Taking into account the injuries & lack of durability catchers have & even after they switch positions they are still somewhat effected by their years playing catcher.
