Howie Kendrick managed to become acceptable at LF. Mark Trumbo was pretty bad but his bat still made him a worthwhile player. If Marte can get to their defensive level then he might have some value. His potential to be a useful left fielder is much higher than the likes of Ortega and Cunningham, who are no more than AA/AAA depth.

Fixed because those two things actually happened as an Angel.  Oh and we were a decent little team when those things happened.

Doubt he turns out to be the answer to anything but he has power potential....that puts you in a different category from the Ortegas, Cunninghams, Robinsons, etc....

I guess it's good we're taking a look at guys.

But it doesn't really matter, our pitching is so bad right now.

I had to laugh, I tuned into the game last night, and they were previewing the next two games in the series...

I got caught up with Ortega but, honestly, Marte seems to have a better chance to succeed.....he probably turns out to be a AAAA guy, like Ortega, Cunningham, Robinson, Buss, Choi etc. but his power seems legit and he's not a bad athlete....Ortega's speed and defense are legit but he would need to hit .300 to make them play....Marte's power gives him a shot if he can combine it with ok all around batting production and decent defense...we'll see....nothing to lose...we don't have the depth for a trade or willingness to spend to pick up a legit LF anytime soon....so give him a shot...
