And the last regular season weekend for the 2016 season is upon us.

And in the Big West, it again comes down to LB and Fullerton battling for the BWC title in a 3 game winner take all series at Blair Field (Thurs-Sat).

LB owns the tiebreaker if going Meatloaf on Fullerton. 

Baseball America now has both ranked in the Top 25.

In an early regional game (Miami regional), LB leads FAU 3-0 in the bottom of the 5th behind Chris Mathewson's pitching.

And no, as far as I know, he's not related to THAT Mathewson.

Are you sure? I've heard RL Mathewson had a nephew who played baseball

5-1 LB in the bottom of the 9th, Mathewson had a no-hitter through 6 innings.

If Mathewson were facing Barry Bonds at ASU, Mathewson would have shut him down.  He's the number one shutdown pitcher in the NCAAs this year!

The Dirtbags had a great season, but came-up just short against Miami.

I think Fullerton overachieved all season to win the Big West, so we can't be terribly shocked that they went-out in the regionals.  They'll be better next season.

Santa Barbara is one of two West-Coast teams left in the tourney...  The Gauchos are in the super-regional (best of three) vs. #2Louisville and took game one this morning 4-2!  Go Gauchos!

Arizona is playing at #6Mississipi St. and lead after a 1-0 win!  Go Cats!

And UCSB heads to the CWS for the first time ever, on a walkoff GS off of Louisville's shutdown closer.

UCSB has a fun team to watch.  They knocked out #2 Louisville with a walkoff grandslam to get into the College World Series and today they just knocked out the #3 seed University of Miami.

Now UCSB has to defeat the loser of the other game in the bracket and then the winner of that same game twice to get to the best of 3 CWS title series. 

Still, it has been a Cinderella ride for them, to just get to Omaha.

It seems like whenever Florida gets to Omaha, suddenly they can't do anything that got them there.

My alma mater went into the CWS as the #1 national seed and left without winning a game (for the second time in five years). I'm wondering why Florida bothers to send a team to Omaha.

As long as it isn't Oklahoma State, I don't have a rooting interest - although it would be a huge deal for the kids at Coastal Carolina if they can pull this off.
