Apply that logic to the millions of VW owners who had no idea their diesels were mass polluters.  You think the car owners should be guilty?

 

You can't just go around charging people with crimes because of equipment they own doesn't function properly.

Sorry, anyone who goes out and puts peoples lives in danger for such selfish reasons is not a good dude. Far from it and should be in jail for quite a long time.

Or is texting or distracted... all should be put in jail if they cause any harm.  "accident" or not, they were negligible and should spend the rest of their lives atoning for what they have done - behind bars.

I don't know anything about car breathalyzers, but like every other component on modern cars, these things can be hacked, disabled, removed, etc. 

 

The notion of "unhackable" anything is wishful thinking at its finest.

If it's disabled, removed or tampered with in any way, the driver is responsible.

I don't understand what you mean by hacked, however.

That's a good point. People in Minnesota and Wisconsin (only and idoit would move there) could become meat popsicles before they get a chance to fire up there vehicle. Plus a lot of people use remote start so they don't have to go out in freezing cold to warm the car up. Would that no longer be an option?
