Not a bad deal at all. I have a feeling Lackey is going to be their #4 starter.

I think Cubbies will be able to work out a trade for a young SP like Carrasco/Salazar/Quintana/Wheeler. There's even the rumor of the Braves wanting Miller for Soler. They have a wealth of prospects, this is the time for them to deal them correctly.

I think he meant that Angels #1 is not as good as any of the top 3 in Chicago's rotation.

Angels #5 Weaver is probally as good as their worst minor league depth chart guy.

Richards is a wild goose.  Heaney probably will be solid.  Santiago = Blantiago, his 2nd half performance last year was abysmal.  Skaggs, coming off Tommy John surgery.  Weaver, yeah. Tropeano, who knows.

Lackey is a ticking time bomb that will blow up any second. That contract has the potential to be similar to CJ's last 2 years of his deal.

Good deal for the Cubs.  He'll be surrounded by young studs.  Hopefully he won't think of himself as the stallion of the group.  But at least they have Maddon that will call the race fairly.  Just hope that one of the jockeys isn't busted for bringing drinks in the Jocks room. 

 

And on the bright side, since it's only for 2 years, I'm sure if he stumbles out of the gate, the Angels will be there to pick up the pieces.
