Yep. It doesn't appear that Eppler will have free run to do whatever he wants, I'm not sure many first time GM's do. Much like his predecessor, he will have an entrenched staff of executives, managers, and coaches to deal with. By deal, I mean to get on, or get them on a page that most (Scioscia) agree to. Not to mention as a first time GM, a learning curve that can at times be brutal. If he is to thrive here, he will have to find a way to balance all that while delivering a competitive baseball product to the field. I expect he will make mistakes and hopefully have successes along the way. But just like Dipoto, or any other new GM, decent evaluations can only be made after the fact, and that takes time, something many here find difficult to give.

 

I wish Eppler luck and God's speed, cuz he's gonna need it.
