Pujols says he can play SS if needed

Technically, yes. Trout at least is athletic enough to hold down SS for a game if it came down to that. Pujols there (even with his phenomenal 1B defense) would make Grant Green look like a gold glover there. Highly doubt it would help the team in any way.

Yea I actually do think pujols is a piece of shit, but cmon..

One guy is the best athlete in baseball and the other is as slow as bengie molina.

I think it's great that Albert isn't so precious about his defensive position, as a lot of veteran guys with his resume would be. Is he a little delusional in thinking that he could play SS at this level? Yeah, sure, but you want your top athletes to be slightly delusional. Michael Jordan thought he could become an MLB player. He probably still thinks he could hang in the NBA.

Don't really get knocking on Albert for this, other than people just being butt hurt cause he hasn't hit much in the second half.

Hands down Pujols would be the better of the two. One's a infielder the other is a outfielder.

No contest

I've come to the conclusion that the baseball season is far too long.  Most of you are bored, and would rather see anything unusual or different.  Players defensively out of position, changes in the front office, changes in the coaching staff, new players, different batting orders, new player quotes, bloopers, etc..  Unfortunately, baseball is a sport that prides itself on not changing unless absolutely necessary.  It likes to protect its history.

Maybe a new rule should be that all players have to play each position (except pitcher) for at least three games during the regular season, or the team is charged for a loss in the standings for carrying a player who does not meet that requirement.  That might mean more runs scored overall, and help the hitting drought.  It would also mean more statistical analysis, and we need more of that because we get bored with the same stuff.

I wonder if he thinks he can still play the OF for a game or two. As silly as it sounds, if we made the WS (ducks) it would be the only way to keep Freese, Cron and Pujols in the lineup against LHP - which would be ideal. Obviously an extreme long shot, but we have been willing to play Joyce and Murphy in LF and they've both been defensive disasters.
