Lol @ settlement.

I guess throwing a few bible passages at this guy qualifies as "treatment".

The guy is a monster. Kudos to whoever outed this creep and his sicko parents. Hopefully he won't be able to do this to his own daughters.

There are out of court settlements every day that go without your judgment. You would be one busy guy keeping up with what happens in family courts on a daily basis that doesn't include jail time. But I guess this time it is different.

You shouldn't really be proud of your last paragraph.

Glen, the time is relevant because there are no reported incidents from age 15 to 27. The guy being from Little Rock and a conservative Christian household, he probably got the Adrian Peterson discipline and missed weeks of school because he fell down a flight of stairs in his parents single floor ranch home. At a certain point it is a dead issue.

All of you guys other arguments is excuse making to target a person and organization you don't like and don't care what means suit your purposes. Even if it means violating privacy rights of minors.

I am more concerned with that than some small church organization wagging a finger at gays and other groups. They expose themselves in an obvious manner while you are wrapping yourselves in cloaks of righteousness while not standing on an moral high ground.

Wait, the ones upset with this dude are the excuse makers?

I am not ok with violating laws, but did that actually happen here? Is that all you are arguing? It's not like he is going to be tried again and face jail time or anything.

It sounds more like making excuses for someone who molested kids by saying that it should never have been revealed and that it happened 12 years ago.

His records were sealed with the names of all minors removed. To bring that information to the public, even 12 years later when he is an adult, is a violation of his rights as a minor at the time.

He was tried in the courts of public opinion and had to resign his job. That I would say is unethical and could be considered grounds for a lawsuit.

Raise your hand if you are in favor of disposing the rights of privacy of minors. It's simple, you are either in favor of maintain a persons legal rights or suspending them when it suits your purpose.

The original incident was covered up and if the parental Duggar's had it there way would've never gone to the police.  To say that he served his time, or there was a settlement is just such complete bullshit considering the cover up in the 1st place.  Counseling, maybe not even counseling as some reports are it was just manual labor, as the punishment for molesting multiple preteens and some kids as young as 5 does not seem like the appropriate punishment.

Edit- Oh and the police officer who helped to cover it up is in jail for child pornography so he is already serving a real punishment.

Funny how this whole narrative is 95% pointing the finger at the Duggar family, and 5% (if not less) directed toward the police department who failed to do anything more.

From what I understand the Duggar's did the original cover up for a few years.  Then it was finally brought to police by someone else and the Duggar's were able to work out a deal with the police to seal the record and "punish" Josh.  Both the parents and the police are to blame.  However, if the parental Duggar's were not who they were socially I would bet that there would've been no police cover up.

The police report speaks for itself, but we'd be stupid to rely on the media for proper documentation of the sequence of events, who did what, etc.  I'm not even claiming media bias here...they excel at botching some of the simplest details.

The thing is that they didn't actually report it to the "police department." The state trooper who filled out the police report was a friend of the family, which was why they called him to help with the cover-up. What better guy to go to than a child pornography enthusiast. They probably didn't know that at the time but they sure lucked out there.

There's undisputable evidence they wanted to cover this up?

Even if they did, I don't think parents shielding their kids is unique to families of any political or religious persuasion.  Every parent does it to some degree.  Again, I'm not saying it was right or wrong in this case because there's lots of details not available.

There's really nothing to like about any of this. If this was supposed to be sealed then it should have remained sealed.

That said, when you make your living minding other people's business you can't act butthurt when they come at you from the top rope. The chink in the armor of the religious right is that they can't live up to their own standards. Everyone who has a vendetta knows they'll find something if they keep digging.

If anyone here is a sister diddler and that's why this whole thing has you rooting for the odd team, I think you should just come clean.

Clearly sis diddling isn't THAT big of a deal on AW.

Aside from politics and religion, I agree that there has to be some other underlying reason why the sis-diddler is garnering all this sympathy. Maybe they watch the program?
